Cheese Society

I have been working with another illustration student, Emma, to organise the next Cheese Society meeting, since the people who run it are in third year and didn't have a lot of time. Our tasks were to arrange a venue and draw a 'djing' cow, which they would then turn into a poster to promote the event. I took the lead in organising the place and Emma did the drawing.

I had really underestimated how long it would take to organise a venue, as it took a really long time for the bars to get back to me and each time I replied I wouldn't get a response for a day or two, which was really frustrating. However in the end we arranged for us to hold our next event at Bar Bilbao under the station arches on Tuesday the 26th April.

This experience was really useful, as I was able to ask the third years for help during the planning which made sure we were on the right track. I think next time I will start researching and contacting places early on to ensure things aren't left as late as they are. I also contacted the Belgrave about hosting it there, and although we ended up going with Bar Bilbao, it was good to have a back up in case they ended up refusing us. I'm really excited but quite nervous about how the event will run, and I'm really looking forward to the running of the society alongside Emma next year, and I think we will plan out our event and get venues pencilled in in order to not have the last minute rush I encountered this time.
