Careers Fair

I managed to book onto two different mentoring sessions at the careers fair today, and found them both really helpful.

East Street Arts, Creativity in the Region:
- Look at good instagram # and copy
- Investigate start up companies, and see if you can do a project for free
- Share facts and campaigns I'm passionate about on Instagram/social media
- Cafes/coffee shops- Use ceramics and packaging, think about how to utilise their facilities
- Comment and ask on line- start a conversation
- Placements- open to idea of shadowing?
- Pricing- Clear about timescales when I have a full time job next year alongside

Anna Franks Marketing, Marketing yourself and your business:
-Packaging design conferences- contact the organisers, visual media
  - good networking- find out who's going and research
-meet for coffee? -Research companies and get in touch
-Robot Food Leeds- ask to meet/shadow- play their story back to them
-Package yourself

I found these mentoring sessions really useful, as they were quite difficult, and made me really think about what I want in my career as an illustrator/designer, how much I want it, and how to get there.
It gave me a lot of confidence to see the 'road' ahead, and how I can start taking steps onto it- I think having this year as Student President will mean I am able to start building these connections without stressing about needing money to live.
