Today I went to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park with some of my friends for the day.
I had already been, when I was working with ANORAK, but I hadn't had the chance to look around properly and draw, so I was really happy I got the chance to do that today.
It's been a while since I've been to an exhibition and just drawn, and I found it so relaxing. I also found that drawing just for me, and not for any assessment criteria really helped me to understand what I was seeing, and appreciate drawing as a tool for recording and understanding.
Although I didn't make any images which I was particularly proud of, I enjoyed this easy, no pressure exercise of just doodling what I saw and seeing how I could record it, whilst still really being in the moment.
After today, I will make sure that I make some time throughout this summer and onto next year to just go somewhere quiet and draw for myself, with no pressure of them having to communicate anything or look a certain way, or function to fit the brief, as I think it's a vital way of ensuring my creative mind stays true to who I am and that my motivation doesn't drop during my modules next year.
