Invoicing

After being asked to invoice for my work with Anorak, I realised I didn't actually know how to form an invoice.

I asked for help from Jamie, my tutor last year, who was able to show me one of his invoices and help me with the layout. He also told me how he numbered his invoices with his initials and the date, e.g. MAO101016, which avoids the embarrassment of sending invoices numbered '1' or '2' and gives another indication of the date, which helps ensure I know that payment has been made on time.

Layout:

Name and address/contact details (As many as possible)

Invoice
Date:
Invoice number:

Client:
Contact:
Job description:
Agreed fee:
Total due:

Please make all money payable to:

Please make payment within 30 days

This was a really helpful activity and I now feel a lot more confident in the real world of creative professionals. It feels quite weird getting my first payment for work in the creative sector, and has made me really excited about what's to come in the future!
