York Gallery- Centre of Ceramic Art

During one of my breaks from Print Stuff, I nipped across the road to visit the Centre of Ceramic Art at York Gallery. I've had an interest in ceramics for years, since I was around 10 and did pottery classes up until the age of 18. I then stopped until recently when I started making things in the ceramics room at uni. I'm really excited to get back into pottery over the next year, and I found some really inspiring works at the CoCA.

These were the items which stood out the most to me, I loved their delicate, precise beauty, and how their weight is balanced perfectly. I also find the simple decoration really effective, as it captures a traditional but vibrantly contemporary aesthetic harmoniously.

I would really love to experiment with different clays and paints on simple handmade, precise vessels, but I might need a bit more practice on the wheel first!
