- 'fell into' being a costume designer through concept artist, through storyboarding, through comics
- Met tank girl owners and thought about whether comic art was right for him
- All about working hard on what you're having a laugh at
- Now working collaboratively- all about communicating what the needed outcome is
- Too daunting to write and draw at the same time, so wrote a script first, planning drawings
- Have to learn from own mistakes
- Learnt what he needs to know, only just learnt different brushes
- Hand rendered then scanned in
- Serendipitous through getting calls put through: concepts of costume on Jupiter Ascending: Kingsman via links through Tank Girl
ADVICE:
Not just down to talent, got to have persistence, keep on pushing and you'll get there!
WHAT I THOUGHT:
- Although his work is very different to the illustrations I normally like, I think his advice and refusal to be 'pigeonholed' is really inspirational. I like the way he says that you don't need to be defined by one style, but can use illustration as an ever evolving tool of expression.
