Hanbury Hall

The Hanbury Hall event was a really intense but interesting day for me. I was nervous to interview Leanne, as it was in front of a lot of people on the stage, but I found it a really useful and boosted my confidence in public speaking.

The main things I picked up from the other talks were:
- Always check contract and agreements before starting any work
- Networking is key
- Important to balance pleasure and work and take a break
- Keep on top of social media accounts
- Focus on the places you want to work for any why, what is their ehtos
- Lead with images that you think are your strongest and show who you are

It was also great to get an idea of the space for our exhibition there later on in the year, and understand how we could show our work.

4. What are the key things you should be thinking about when promoting yourself and your work? Especially the relationship between yourself as an individual and your work.
5. Should the portfolio be specific to a specialist area, or is it better to show a variety of work?
6. What do you personally look for in a portfolio, and what makes a successful portfolio?
7. A lot of us here are studying illustration, you obviously work in the creative industries in a less traditional way, (than for example being a photographer or illustrator). What opportunities do you think there are for people who want to work more broadly within the creative industries? What was your journey to get to where you are?
8. What is the best piece of advice you would give to a recent graduate in the creative industries?

Sophia's extra questions:
Releasing an app (new) - makes it more accessible to contact people and network on the go.
Vibe of the brand - friendly yet professional. How to get this balance right?
