I typically don't have a lot of confidence in my work, especially when I'm surrounded by so many talented peers. But recently I've been posting a lot of my final pieces onto Instagram, and I've found it very uplifting to get validation from both people I know and people I don't, simply because of my work. Although I don't really put much precedence on the amount of likes or followers people have, I thought it was really nice to see how my work is being received by others. I think at times I can get quite uninspired mainly because I'm not believing in what I'm making, so although it's not a big thing, or even that many 'likes' I think the practise of putting my work in a public place really helps my confidence in myself as a practitioner. I need to make sure I keep putting selections of my work on Instagram in order for my belief in my own work to build, even if I'm not too keen on the work myself, as it is a good way for me to not feel afraid of showing my work, which is a necessary skill for illustrators to have.
